Karl has worked at the practice for eleven years and was appointed to the board of directors of Ecology Solutions in January 2016. He has extensive experience in managing both large and small-scale projects, regularly advising on complex issues and designing habitat creation proposals for development schemes, including those required for licence applications. As his specialism, Karl is regularly approached to advise on European protected sites issues and produce Habitats Regulations Assessments, very often for large and complex schemes. Karl has an extensive experience in negotiating with statutory authorities (such as Natural England), local authority / County ecologists and third-party organisations, achieving cost effective solutions on behalf of clients. He is regularly asked to prepare development licence applications in respect of Great Crested Newts and Badgers. Over the last ten years Karl has assisted in the production of a significant body of evidence presented at planning appeals and at the High Court both in England and Northern Ireland. He has acted as an expert witness presenting both oral and written evidence at planning appeals and local plan inquiries.
