Since the judgment handed down by Justice Jay in Wealden v SSCLG [EWHC 351], Ecology Solutions has represented the interests of several clients where air quality impacts on the Ashdown Forest SPA / SAC have been a critical issue.
In 2017 Ecology Solutions prepared detailed evidence, on behalf of Wates Developments, for residential schemes in both Crawley and Lindfield. In both instances, the planning applications were being determined by way of appeal and the respective public inquiries had already closed, but evidence specific to Ashdown Forest was invited by the Department for Communities and Local Government ahead of a decision being issued. In each case the evidence put forward by Ecology Solutions (Tim Goodwin and Karl Goodbun) was determined to be sound and permissions were subsequently granted.
Currently, Karl Goodbun is representing two clients who are promoting development (residential and retirement living) within Wealden District, working as part of professional teams which include instructed Counsel. In addition to submitting evidence as part of the local plan EIP, detailed Habitats Regulations Assessments are being prepared to support the clients’ proposals.
