PROJECTS

Fairbridge Way, Burgess Hill

Ecology Solutions completed the required ecological services and developed the necessary mitigation strategies, principally in respect of Great Crested Newts, to support the planning application for a new residential development.  After securing the outline planning consent and addressing the conditions pertinent to ecology, Josef Saunders secured a Natural England EPS development licence in respect of Great Crested Newts.

The mitigation strategy was based on using an off-site local wildlife reserve to accommodate the large population of newts that had colonised the settlement tanks within the site.  Across a period of three months more than one thousand Great Crested Newts (together with Smooth Newts, Palmate Newts and other amphibians) were translocated to a secured and enhanced receptor site to allow development works to commence.
