Ecology Solutions, led by Simon Taber, was instructed to provide strategic advice on a proposed residential site in close proximity to Morecambe Bay SPA, following objections received from Natural England and the Council's ecological advisor (Greater Manchester Ecology Unit). Simon produced a detailed Addendum to Information for Habitats Regulations Assessment, to provide significant information and comprehensive assessment pursuant to the Habitats Regulations, and to set out a detailed avoidance and mitigation strategy involving provision of alternative open space, a contribution towards mitigation at the SPA, and securing alternative optimal foraging habitat for qualifying species. Following negotiation with Natural England and GMEU, this led to the removal of objections and approval of the scheme.
