East Midlands Gateway, Kegworth

Peter Hadfield was the lead consultant for the production of the Ecological Impact Assessment and associated materials under a Development Consent Order for this Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project south of East Midlands Airport and adjacent to the M1 motorway.  Work included assessment of the Strategic Rail Freight Interchange, rail-link, motorway junction improvements and a bypass for the town of Kegworth, as well as liaison with the airport over bird strike risks and devising an appropriate avoidance strategy.  The work involved consultation with the Environment Agency, Natural England and County Ecologist, with a programme of mitigation completed for bats and Badgers and a series of ecological enhancements being delivered as part of the scheme.
