Preliminary ecological appraisals

Preliminary Ecological Appraisals are employed in the early stages of the planning and development process to gather information on the likely impact of development projects. Evaluation includes an appraisal of ecological features present at the site, an assessment of notable species and habitats, the identification of potential constraints and recommendations for appropriate mitigation strategies. PEAs are often carried out as a precursor to a more formal Ecological Impact Assessment.
