Biodiversity Net Gain

Ecology Solutions advises developers and planners in relation to Biodiversity Net Gain (or BNG), which is specifically identified in the Environment Act and is due to become a mandatory requirement for all planning applications in England in due course. In order to future-proof schemes, it is therefore highly advisable to consider BNG early in the project process, and indeed many Local Planning Authorities are already requesting this.

It is important to be able to demonstrate that the hierarchy of avoid / mitigate / compensate has been followed, and Ecology Solutions works to deliver practical long term enhancements and management to achieve a minimum net gain of 10%, the position as outlined in the Environment Act.  We work closely with landscape architects and other stakeholders to achieve the best habitat improvements as part of a scheme’s multi-functional green infrastructure.
