Ecology Solutions' ecologists are experienced in the survey of all UK habitat types. Phase 1, extended Phase 1, National Vegetation Classification (NVC) and River Corridor Surveys are regularly employed to survey sites. In addition, novel survey methods are employed as needed to fit specific project requirements.

A particular emphasis is placed on assessment of habitat quality and context. Ecology Solutions' staff regularly examine the quality of habitat types in relation to habitat designations such as Special Areas of Conservation (SACs), Special Protection Areas (SPAs), Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs), County Wildlife Sites (CWSs, also known as SINCs, SNCIs and BNSs) and Local Nature Reserves (LNRs).

Assessment of other designations, such as important hedgerows under the Hedgerows Regulations, is also undertaken and expert evidence presented at inquiry to support the findings of these surveys whenever required.
